When I was learning to drive, they used poles to mark out the corners of the lots and we were told to use parts of the car's rear passenger windows as markers to align with the poles

Parallel parking is the one that was more daunting to me especially in a new or unfamiliar car.

Yep, rear quarter window was what I was taught for alignment to rear corner of car before steering left. But interesting concept with the mirror align suggestions, might give it a shot next time!

I called a few dealers and none of them had heard about this bulletin. One sales guy called the head office and they confirmed that Park Assist 2 is still part of the Driver Assistance Package. Nothing about a production stop for Australia. As Douglas Adams wrote: "Don't Panic!"

I think the OP needs to do what any good journalist would...quality-check their information

Called VWA and they got in contact with the passenger production team for Australia and this is not the case. Park assist 2 is available and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future.
